Rain or Shine!!! 08:00-13:00 tailgaters set up 06:30
The 2013 Hamfest is over. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make it a sucess. Thank you to all who attended making it worth doing.
This year we had about 200 people attending. There were many tailgaters, some with new stuff and some with classic gear. We launched a high altitude balloon. The crossband repeater suffered some interference so it was not as sucessful as last year. We experimented with some live video from the payload. The APRS telemetry worked well. The highest confimred altitude was 94,800 feet. We sucessfully recovered the packages in Eastbrook near Webb Pond.
One of the highlights last year was the high altitude balloon launch. We launched from Hermon and landed in Lee. We reached an altitude of just below 96,000 feet. We made contacts on the crossband repeater as far as Long Island, NY. Congratulations to KC2RIV for the longest contact at 369 miles.
